05 / WHY THIS EXISTS

LOCAL
RADIO.

Graham County Mesh is a community project focused on learning, building, and documenting Meshtastic® communications in western North Carolina.

Built for this terrain.

Graham County is mountainous country, with elevations from roughly 1,177 to 5,560 feet. The Unicoi, Snowbird, Cheoah, and Yellow Creek ranges make line-of-sight and node placement local engineering problems—not abstract range-chart numbers.

Useful over flashy.

We care about practical radios that people can understand, maintain, carry, and improve. The goal is not a gadget collection. It is local capability.

Open by default.

Meshtastic® is open source and community driven. We want this site to be equally useful: clear documentation, honest field notes, and a place for the local community to share what it learns.

LOCAL CONTEXT

Start with the
