Local settings need confirmation
We have not published an approved local modem preset, frequency slot, community channel or setup QR code. Ask the team for the settings used by your intended contact before changing your radio. This page was reviewed October 11, 2026.
Request local settingsWhat to confirm
- Use a supported US-band radio and the US region when operating here. Follow the official instructions for your exact hardware.
- Confirm modem preset, frequency slot and channel configuration with your intended contact. A preset suggested by a tool is not an approved local network setting.
- Agree on firmware versions, node role and location sharing before the test. Keep private channel keys and exact home coordinates out of public posts.
- Start with two nearby nodes. Exchange a short message in each direction and confirm receipt on the other device.

Before importing a channel QR code
A channel link may contain encryption keys and may change your channel configuration. Save a private record of your settings, confirm the sender and review the import screen in the official client. Only share links for channels intentionally made public. BackCountrySignal has no public local channel QR available yet.
